The only thing you can truly control is showing up every day.
That’s it. Showing up isn’t a magic solution or a quick win. It’s not a hack or a shortcut. But it’s the only way to build something meaningful.
The problem is, we’re too focused on instant results and gratification. We want every piece of content we create to go viral, and we get discouraged when it doesn’t.
But that’s a ridiculous way to approach our work. As creators, we can’t be chasing fleeting fame or overnight success.
That short-term thinking just doesn’t work. Viral success is unpredictable, and anyone claiming to have a formula for it is wrong.
No algorithm can guarantee it.
Through my experience creating content, writing stories, and working online, I’ve learned one thing:
The most reliable factor is consistency.
You can’t count on much more than simply showing up, day after day, and organically building your audience through dedication and hard work.
Showing up gives you the chance to actually grow.
Stagnation affects us all, whether we’re the best, the worst, or somewhere in between. It’s the downfall of any creator. Your audience gets bored, loses interest, and your work becomes stale.
When you’re solely focused on instant success, stagnation is inevitable.
Why? Because you stop listening to your audience.
You ignore their passions and needs.
You obsess over the numbers, watching them rise and fall, sacrificing your creative spark for the sake of data.
But if you build a slow, long-term, dedicated relationship with the people who genuinely care about your work, that’s a different story.
That’s how you create a career that matters and a body of work that leaves a lasting impact.
And how do you do that?
By showing up. Consistently. Showing up with your authentic self, your values, your beliefs, your unique perspective.
Consistency lets people understand what the fuck you’re about.
The first time someone encounters your work, they have no idea who you are or what you’re about. You can’t convey all that in one piece, no matter how great it is. It can’t capture the full essence of your creative style and approach.
But by consistently creating content, you provide context and take your audience on a journey.
It might sound cheesy, but it’s true. Your role as a creator is to craft a hero’s journey, forging an emotional connection with your audience through your message, ideas, and brand. You can’t achieve that without a steady stream of work.
My experience starting a blog, building a network, growing an audience, and generating passive income has taught me one thing: consistently showing up is what makes the difference.
If I hadn’t focused on building rather than breaking through, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
The key to building an audience is showing up consistently.
That’s what will give you the foundation you need for a successful career and fulfilling craft.
Anything else is just a distraction.
